David Weprin endorsed by 1199 SEIU for NYS Assembly

Former City Councilman David Weprin received the endorsement of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East for NYS Assembly in Special Election that takes place Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
“1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East endorses David Weprin for State Assembly,”said Kevin Finnegan, 1199 SEIU Political Director. “David understands the healthcare needs of New Yorkers and consistently stands up for working families. As City Council Finance Committee chair, David put the needs of New York's working people first. We're confident he'll fight for quality healthcare and the concerns of working people in the New York State Assembly.”
David Weprin stated, “I am honored to accept the endorsement of this dynamic union whose members care for our sick, infirm, our elderly and provide much of the glue that makes our health care system work. I also appreciate the efforts and advocacy of 1199 to make sure working and middle class New Yorkers get their voices heard on health care, the budget and other major concerns. As Chair of the City Council's Finance Committee I focused on protecting the interests of working and middle class New Yorkers. As a Member of the Assembly, I'll maintain that focus.”
