North Queens United Group Endorses David Weprin for NYS Assembly

North Queens United Group endorsed Former NYC Councilman David Weprin for NYS Assembly. At a 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2010 news conference outside Vaccaro Trattoria 88-02 Little Neck Parkway, Bellerose/ Floral Park, Queens border, the Democratic nominee for Assembly from the 24th A.D. wilas supported by this group of community-minded businesspeople and professionals who live and/ or work in northeast Queens and who endorsed City Councilman Dan Halloran in the November 2009 election.

“As the the Democratic-Working Families-Independent nominee for Assembly from the 24th A.D.,” stated former Councilman Weprin. “I am pleased to accept the endorsement of the North Queens United Group. The support from this group of community-minded businesspeople and professionals who live and/ or work in northeast Queens and who endorsed City Councilman Dan Halloran in the November 2009 election further demonstrates the broad range of support for my candidacy. I want to particularly thank North Queens United’s chair, Peter Zuccarello, and its executive secretary Mario D’Elia, for their confidence in me.”

“As many know, I am proud to have earned the support of caring people who put their communities first. This includes many people who volunteer everyday for campaign to bring my unique experience gained as chair of the City Council’s Finance Committee where I helped balance eight budget to an Albany currently mired in its own fiscal difficulties.”

Peter Zuccarello stated, “On behalf of the North Queens United Group, we are here today to announce the endorsement of David Weprin for the New York State Assembly seat in the 24th District.

“Our Interim Executive Board consisting of Sal Bacarella, Gary Bonelli, Philip Zerillo and Mario D'Elia interviewed both candidates and while the 24th District is fortunate to have two highly qualified candidates, all members of North Queens United Group had a difficult decision on who to choose, but feel that David Weprin's governmental experience and history of community service make him the best candidate for the Assembly.

“The North Queen United Group doesn't choose candidates based on party affiliation, but rather make decision by due diligence and evaluations of the individual and for that reason we are here with David Weprin.

“The North Queen United Group looks forward to working with him to make our communities even stronger. Thank you.”
