David Weprin endorsed by Transport Workers Local 100 for NYS Assembly
(2010-02-05)

Former City Councilman David Weprin received the endorsement of Transport Workers Union Local 100 for NYS Assembly in Special Election that takes place Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

“We are confident that you share the same convictions and we welcome your participation in all TWU Local 100 sponsored events and coalitions,” wrote John Samuel, TWU Local 100 President in the letter of endorsement. David Weprin has consistently supported mass transit, opposed cuts including organizing two news conference in Queens focusing on the Q76 and Q79 buses and attending one focusing on subways.

David Weprin stated, “As Chair of the City Council's Finance Committee for eight years through 2009, I have always believed in the primacy of preserving core services. I look forward to working with TWU Local 100 to oppose these misguided MTA cuts. Certain cuts proposed by the MTA to address its revenue shortfall makes no sense; and the impacts fall on our young, our seniors and hard-working residents who work off-hours.”

TWU Local 100 represents 38,000 members in New York.
